Betting how to convert the odds?

I've switched to betfair.com and I don't understrand their odds

I've gotten used to +140 and -160 but I don't understand 1.34 and 1.21

  1. With betfair the payout number includes your original bet so for instance 1.31 and you bet 100 bucks means getting back 31 plus the original 100.  So even up bets are 2.00 where you double your money.  Numbers will always be over 1.00 and the higher the number the higher the payout.

    In a way it's an easier system than American style since you're not dealing with + and -.  On the other hand I've always used American and I don't want to have to learn something else after all these years :)  

    Although I've never played at Betfair any other site I've bet at will give you a choice and they don't want to make you uncomfortable or confused :)

    $10.00 x 1.34 = 13.40 winner
