Question:

Bezerk Synaptics Touchpad

response to my synaptics touchpad on return of my Pavilion zd7010us laptop (from the manufacturer--HP-- for repairs is completely abnormal and unreliable. The touchpad surface feels as if it has been waxed or oiled; and the response to my touch is almost nil at times, and overly extreme at others. Wiped the surface with isopropanol, to see if that would help, and tried upgrading the driver, on the chance that it might've become corrupt. The problem is progressively worsening; and, having originally gone 7 weeks without my laptop (and oh, the factory tech wiped my hard drive), I don't want to resubmit my laptop to develop yet another problem. Is there a way to troubleshoot this problem on my own(I'm fairly handy with the laptop usually, though I would require a disassembly manual for this one, I think--is there a download link for that)?

Oh, I did also adjust the settings in windows xp and also in the synaptics program, to minimal improvement.

Appreciate any help you can give me on this issue.
