Question:

Bifocal Lenses?

I had an eye appt. recently and was precribed bifocals for the first time (in my 40's). I also have high eye pressures. The doctor was very specific in that I should not wear no lines. He said I would only be able to use straight line 28's. I forgot to ask, but why do you think I might not be able to wear no lines?

  1. It depends on the prescription. If it is your first pair of bifocals, you should be able to wear a progressive with no trouble. See an ophthalmologist for a second opinion about the high eye pressure and ask them about progressives as well.

  2. its possible.  not all Rx's can even be made in progressives (a good example would be "slab-off prism")
