Big 12 week six: Preview
The sixth week of Big 12 play is set to go over the weekend, and conference play also continues in what should be a very important week.
#22 Oklahoma State @ Louisiana-Lafayette
Oklahoma State was able to force their way into the AP Top 25 last week. The club has yet to play a difficult opponent and should not be tested in week six when they take on Louisiana-Lafayette.
The Ragin’ Cajuns are sitting second in the Sun Belt conference with a 2-2 and a 2-1 record against conference opponents. Louisiana-Lafayette is likely to struggle against a much stronger Oklahoma Side. Nevertheless, they will hope to build off their win
over North Texas last week.
Baylor vs. Texas Tech
Baylor and Texas Tech will meet at a neutral site in Dallas over the weekend.
Baylor is having a strong season, having only suffered one loss in week three to #4 TCU. Last week the Bears demolished a respectable Kansas side 55-7. If the Bears are able to continue their strong play they should have a legitimate shot at a ranking.
Texas Tech has struggled in the last two weeks with losses to #6 Texas and Iowa State. Unfortunately for the Red Raiders it will not get any easier against a skilled Baylor side. Sitting at 0-2 in conference play, Texas Tech will need a win on the weekend
if they hope to move out of last place in Big 12 South.
#11 Arkansas vs. Texas A&M
Arkansas will meet Texas A&M at a neutral site in Arlington Texas.
Arkansas suffered a difficult first loss of the season by four points to #1 Alabama last week. Therefore the Razorbacks will be keen to get back on track in time for their game against #8 Auburn in week seven.
Texas A&M lost their first game against a tough opponent last week to Oklahoma State. Although the Aggies currently sit at 3-1 they are not considered part of the upper echelon of college ball this season. Nevertheless, if they were able to put together
a stunning upset against Arkansas they certainly world earn votes for the AP Top 25.
#10 Utah @ Iowa State
Utah remains unbeaten this season, currently sitting at 4-0. Out of the Mountain West Conference the Utes have proven to be a force. Heading into Iowa State the Utes have a chance to move further up the national rankings before they are forced back into
weak conference play.
Iowa State has had a turbulent season, unable to compete against the country's top teams, but cruising past the less skilled sides. Sitting in the middle, Iowa will need a win over Utah if they hope to have a shot at being ranked this season.
Colorado @ #24 Missouri
Colorado has only lost one game this season to California in the second week of play. Since that time the Buffaloes have put together a strong season with wins over Hawaii and Georgia last week. They will have trouble against a strong Missouri side, but
that should provide them with a challenge.
Mizzo has put together a strong season thus far and were rewarded with a #24 ranking this week. Nevertheless, the Tigers have yet to play a strong opponent or a conference rival, all of which will change on Saturday.
