  1. Addiction is matter of brain chemistry.  I have a friend who went from being a clean sober person to a multi drug abuser who's favorite drug of choice was anything he could get his hands on.  It's a disease.  Some people find alcohol to be their only drug of choice, and then others become poly substance abusers.

The Mayo Clinic reference below can help you better understand how drug addiction occurs.

There are a good number of references online- just google drug addiction causes and you'll have plenty to look at.

  2. Addictions is such a dangerous thing to do, the user may never noticed its effects but the people around them does. If anyone have and drug or alcohol addiction, such person should undergo treatment right away.

  3. Nobody sets out to be an addict. Some people are genetically predisposed to addiction. Then at some point in their lives they either experiment with drugs, or out of necessity are administered drugs. Yes, it is an individuals choice to experiment with drugs, but how would you know that you were one of the ones that is predisposed to addiction, that you can’t just party like your friends? Then you come across the one thing that makes your brain smile and scream “Hello” this makes me feel normal or good. Do it enough, and the brain becomes drastically rewired, add in the predisposition...and that's the disease model. Then you realize that there is a problem and you want off, and actually stop using. You think that the brain is going to forget? No way!, it's been altered. Is it a choice to go back out, perhaps. But, the brain wants/needs that old feeling, it has a void that is demanding to be filled. This is where surrender and a program of recovery comes in. Surrender because the addict can no longer control what the brain wants/needs, and a program of recovery to actively fill the void.

  4. Drug addiction can harm your health. Many people have lost jobs, homes, family, and loved ones simply because they could not break thier drug habit. I suggest you find some help. I found a site that has addiction information and a directory of addiction treatment clinics so you can help. http://www.addictionselfhelp.com
