  1. Does the TV have two screens or three?  If you indeed have a layer of "plexiglass" then you have three and the outermost layer is usually lexan---not plexi.  If its velcroed on you could go get one cut at a glass shop and make sure to get the sides sanded.

The inner screens are a different story.  The innermost is the fresnel (circular grooves) and the one with the lines going top to bottom is the lenticular.  These are extremely difficult to clean if at all.  If you truly got nothing but water in  between--it will eventually evaporate and leave minor water marks (if it was clean water) If you try to remove the water you will have far more marks and distortions on the screens.

Go search your model number at www.tritronicsinc.com for a price on any or all of the screens.

BTW---the screens face each other in a particular way---usually labels facing away from each other

  2. Is this a projection tv?

If so it sounds like you have two problems, the crack in the plex, and the lenses are dirty.

Cleaning the lenses is pretty simple, but should still be left to someone familiar with it.  Some of them are easy to scratch (and some aren't).  If you pay someone else to clean them, and they damage them, its on them.  Plus most repair guys will do some "fine tuning" to the tv after cleaning, like checking/realigning the picture (called convergence) and things like that.  Probably a $50 to $100 service call depending on where you are.

The plex is pretty easy to replace (you could probably do it yourself), the trick is finding it.  I'd start out with the manufacturer and find out if they have a local repair facility, if so, I'd order it through them.  Shipping is probably whats going to bite on this.  You could probably even find it after-market but the picture won't look quite the same.
