  1. The pulmonary circulation takes deoxygenated blood from the right atrium of the heart via the right ventricle & the pulmonary artery to the lungs and returns oxygenated blood to the left atrium of the heart via the pulmonary veins.

The systemic circulation is concerned with the movement of oxygenated blood to the body and the blood enters the  left ventricle, from the left atrium, and passes to the aorta and the rest of the body, returning to the right atrium of the heart via the venae cavae.

This double circulation allows the separation of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood and provides amore efficient delivery to the cells and tissues of the body.
