I'm doing a project on birds in school and it's in for like a couple of weeks and it's taking me forever anyway, does anyome know any bird artists or any artists that use feathers or anything like that? I've looked on google but I can't find anything legit anywhere. I'm really desperate lol!

Thanks in Advance! x

  1. There's a bloke called Dave Nurney who has illustrated loads of bird books.  Google him.

  2. John James Audubon was the most famous painter of birds - see links

Also Hokusai, the Japanese wood cut artist, used birds as a subject - (there's a couple of paintings with birds in link below). So did Hiroshige, another famous Japanese woodcut artist (the Impressionists - inc. Van Gogh were influenced by both of these).

David Attenborough's favourite ornithological painter is, apparently, William Cooper (see link)

If you're looking for mainstream art history 'feathers', would suggest Max Ernst's Surrealist, 'The Robing of the Bride' see link (the weird bird's got a few feathers on him!)

If none of this is what you need, recommend you Google, "Painters of Ornithology" rather than 'Pictures of Birds' - (have never used the letters 'lol' before but have finally found a use for them.)
