  1. Go talk to your doctor. He'll prescribe what is best for you.

  2. That is such a good thing that your parents are thinking about getting you on birth control! Some parents would dred the fact! Im 17 and have been on birth control for my period since I was 15, and its called Ortho Tri-Cyclen LOW. Its a low dose or hormoes which is always what you want to go for. If you dont go for a low dose, itll make you sick. So Id suggest Ortho Tri-Cyclen Low :)

  3. All birth control pills will regulate your period in some way because this is the manner in which they prevent you from getting pregnant.  Your doctor will be able to choose what's best for you.

There is another option to getting the pill.  It's called the NuvaRing.  It produces the same results as the pill, but here is the good/bad part depending on how you see it.  This is a small 2 inch rubber ring which is placed inside the v****a just like you would put in a tampon.  The ring releases the hormones that you would get from the pill, but you only put it in once and leave it there for 3 weeks, take it out, then have your period.  You won't even be able to feel it.  Ask your doc if this right for you if you don't want to have to remember taking a pill every day.

Oh, by the way your parents are probably trying to get you on birth control so they don't have to worry about you ever getting pregnant.  It may be just for their peace of mind and so you and they don't have to feel embarrassed about bringing it up.
