Birth control pills and period . . 10points?

I'm a bit confused why do people take birth control pills for their period.

I know this may be a stupid question but I always thought birth control pills were taken when having s*x.

If anyone can explain what birth control pills are used for that would be great.

The hormones  in the PILL help to regulate your cycle! it gives you small doses of it then you go from some to none tricking the body into your cycle!

Some women have irregular periods and start at different days of the month. Most women have regular periods where they start every 24 or 28 days, for example. Others might vary and, for example, can start their period after 25 days one month and then the next month 20 days and so on.

Birth control helps those irregular cycles since you take a pill everyday and toward the end of the pack, they'll start their period at the same time every month.

Birth control pills are used to help with a girl's period usually only in extreme cases, for example when a girl experiences a very heavy menstrual flow, or severe cramps. Birth control can be used for quite a few things besides preventing pregnancy. Some are very good for keeping your skin clear,  they can lighten/shorten your periods, and some can even help control PMS. So even if a girl isn't having s*x she might be on them for those reasons.

It's really about getting the right type for you though. I was on YAZ for a while, and the side effects were worse than the positive parts of it for me personally.
