Find a local indian grocery store. Someone suggest Patel Brothers..they are the best!

Don't know where you are situated but if you visit your local Indian restaurant and ask them who supplies there's, you have your answer.

The scientific name of the species you are describing is called Vigna mungo (not to be confused with the mung bean). Here is the Wikipedia article. Unfortunately, I have not seen this outside of Indian markets.
