  1. Do they also have orange and white? These are their base colors I believe. Also, generally calicos are female since the calico gene is carried only on the X chromosones and there must be two in order for the gene to be expressed.

  2. Black Tortishells-when they look like this, there not actually calicos, there actually called tortishell

  3. That's called "Tortoiseshell" and it's quite common.

Why are you allowing your cat to breed?  Those six kittens mean that six cats or kittens at your local shelter will be PUT TO DEATH because you took homes from them.  Get the mother cat AND all these kittens spayed ASAP.

  4. there is no such thing as a black calico

a calico is a white cat with orange and black markings.

you probably have tortiseshell kittens which is black with orange and little white.

  5. You most likely have tortise shell kittens. There is no such thing as a black calico. Calico cats are white, orange & black, and 95% of the time female. In the VERY RARE event that you may have a male calico---NEVER, NEVER have this cat neutered, and raise him strictly INDOORS. He will quickly be stolen if you don't. A male calico cat is worth lots of $$$$. Contact the AKC re: getting him "papered", and use him for stud service--only with another female calico. But--don't get too excited. This sounds like you have a litter of tortise shells to me.
