Question:

Black eyeliner question?

I have wanted to wear black eyeliner for some time. I normally wear blue eyeliner, and I'm starting on purple at the moment. I know you would suggest brown for blue eyes, or to make it look more natural. But is there a way I can put apply it so that it looks nice?(Nice enough so that a mother won't ban me from eyeliner) Anything that makes eyes bigger? Just about anything will be helpful =)

  1. Apply eyeliner very close to the lashline, for a simple clean cut look, and  apply it only on the top lash (or very lightly on the bottom as wel). For a more dramatic look, after applying the liner very close to your lash line, get a smudge tip to smudge it our a bit. This way instead of a bunch of dark lines you have a very very slight smoky eye effect which will enlargen your eyes. (Once again don't apply to bottom lash or use sparingly).

  2. You can put it on the inside of your top lid, so it doesn't look so obvious. And on the bottom you can put white liner on to make your eyes look larger.

  3. Apply it very thinly. Liquid eyeliner is harder to apply than pencil, so you will need to practice but I would suggest Rimmel London's professional liquid eyeliner, I got it from walmart for less than $10. It has a very thin applicator brush so you can make thinner lines. One good thing is that you can always take a damp q-tip and wipe off excess to make the line thinner after you have already applied it. I apply it and if I have mistakes or it's too thick I just just slightly wet a q-tip and gently brush it in one sweeping motion across the eyelid and then follow that with a dry finger so that it makes a dry, clean line. You can do the same with pencil eyeliner but you will need a good pencil and a very very good sharpener so that the point is very small. I would suggest a classic wooden pencil for this because the twist-up kind never get sharp enough for my satisfaction. I use Rimmel's kohl eyeliner in black if I use a pencil. You could also try Wet & Wild if you're on more of a budget, their quality is pretty good now.

  4. Black eyeliner will typically make your eyes appear smaller, especially if you use it along the bottom lash line.  That's not to say that you can't wear it, you just wouldn't want to line your eyes with it if you're looking to increase the size in their appearance.  If you're looking to make your eyes appear bigger, white eyeliner will do just that.

If you still want to wear black, I would suggest smudging the line to soften the overall look.  Also, a charcoal grey would look beautiful against blue eyes.

  5. Well, I would suggest wearing the black liner only on your top lid and wear a a drop shadow on the bottom lid in a ligher color, dark brown.  In the inner membrand you will want to use a white or a pale yellow, to open up the eye.  I know young girls like to wear black because it is dramatic and it can give you a s**y look.  Also remember that dark colors are going to push back, ligher color are going to pull foward.  So if you want your eyes to look bigger wearing alot of black eyeliner is not going to do it.

This girl has black on top, dropshadow lighter color on the bottom and white in the inner membrane.  http://www.imageandstylenews.com/wp-cont...

  6. Just make a "v" on the outside corner of your eyes with the black. It will make your eyes appear larger.

  7. I wear black eyeliner and it makes my eyes look very big.

If your worried about your mum then you could gradually apply it darker and darker.

You don't have to apply it that solid, it could just be very faint if you're worried about colours.

If you have blue eyes, I'd recommend you use a dark eye shadow on top with the eyeliner.
