Blackberry Pearl Media Problem...?

Question

I have a Blackberry Pearl, and for some reason it doesn't let me access my media files. For example, when I attempt to play a ring tone I get a error message saying "Unable to Display file/Device Memory/Home/User/Ringtones." This also happens when I try viewing pictures. My friend had the same problem and was told to DL some software and updating it onto his Pearl. He tried helping me but we can't seem to find what software it was.... Please help. Thanks!
