I just read that Toshiba won't make DVD players anymore, and that some studios are only releasing blu-ray disc movies now. does that mean that my DVD player, and all my DVDs in my collection are now obsolete? do you know how much MONEY I've got invested in these favorite movies? will blu-ray play on my standard DVD player? I'm still hanging onto my VHs player and have TONS of old VHS movies I love. As everything changes, I get broker and broker.

  1. Your DVD collection is safe for the momment.  Toshiba owned the HDDVD format - that is the format you are hearing Toshiba will no longer make.  When they say Studios are releasing only Blu-ray they mean as their HD solution.  They will still release a standard DVD as well.  Blu-ray discs can only play on a Blu-ray player, so they will not play on your standard player.
