Blue Zone/Halo markings?

yesterday i asked a question about markings (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjD3WP8KRiVpqQO3XIX4_Z_sy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080714065829AAjpHvy) and some of the answers to my question brought up another question... are blue zone/ halo markings just found on paint/pinto horses? the reason im asking is my PMU horse has white socks on both hind legs (hes a bay) and between the white and black is the grey "halo". its easier to see on the back of one ankle where toy can see the pink skin turn black... he is a mix so he could very well have paint in him. if not just paints what other breeds have this?...or can any horse have it? thanks in advance...im on google looking it up but it just brings me to paint sites

My bay QH has a "halo" where is white socks meet black coloring on his legs...never heard this called that before....good question!!!!!  No horse in his pedigree has a paint crop out or tendency to excessive white....I really notice the "halo" when I boot him up prior to a show.

he might be a solid paint. or a paint mix.

Paint and pinto describe colors, not necessarily breeds. It is possible for horses of any breed with white markings to have this halo. I would not say he is a paint 'breed' though as the APHA only registers horses with registered parents... either APHA, AQHA or thoroughbreds.

The blue markings is just areas where grey (colored) skin has overlying white hair.  It is most commonly seen in paints/pintos especially overos, but may be seen around any white markings.
