  1. ok. i put my eggs in the water, then boil it. Usually for about 15 min AFTER the water starts boiling. I don't know about the vinegar. If your eggs crack a little it's fine. :)

  2. When i boil eggs I put them in before the water is boiling.  I dont put any vinager. It's really not nesscary.  I usually boil for 10 mins and let them sit. until cool.

  3. wow, everybody is so dumb. first off when making hard boiled eggs you dont want to boil the water. you want a temp around 160-180, not at 212 which is boiling. And you dont need vinegar. just place the egg in cold water let it come up to temp, then check at about 11 minutes. you can check them by cracking one and checking if the yolk is fully yellow inside.

  4. when i boil eggs I put them in a pot with hot water let them boil for 10 mins then turn fire off let sit in hot water for another 10 min then peel eat etc .The perfect will not have any green in the yoke.Vinegar is used for poach eggs you will not need it .

    Egg Salad

    1/2 medium red onion, chopped

    12 large eggs

1 stalk celery (with leaves), chopped

    1/2 cup mayonnaise

    2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill

    2 tablespoons whole-grain mustard

1 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

    2 teaspoons kosher salt

Serving suggestions: 8 slices country-style sourdough bread, sliced tomatoes, salad greens

In a small bowl soak the onions in cold water for 15 minutes. Drain.

Meanwhile, in a large saucepan with a tight-fitting lid, place the eggs and cover with cold water by 1 inch. Bring to a boil and cook for 1 minute. Cover the eggs, remove from the heat, and set aside for 8 minutes. Drain the water from the pan and cool the eggs in the pan under cold running water. Peel the eggs and cut into sixths.

In a large bowl, mix together the onion, celery, mayonnaise, dill, mustard, lemon juice, and salt.

Add the eggs to the mayonnaise mixture and gently mix them together. Season with pepper, to taste. Use in sandwiches, with lettuce and tomatoes, or in a salad.

  5. HI, It's 12:40 here and Im starving too! So first you put hot water and a dash of salt and a slash of viniger on the stove then add the eggs before the water starts to boil! And in about 5-15 minutes depending on how you like them they're done and ready to make a sandwich!

  6. Put the eggs in the water before it starts boiling, otherwise the sudden heat will crack them. I've never heard of adding vinegar.  I don't think it is really necessary if you add the eggs while the water is cool - I have never had any problems.

  7.    1.  Put the eggs in one layer on the bottom of the pan. Put the pan in the sink. Run water into the pan until the water is 1 inch over the eggs. Put the pan on a burner. Turn it to medium-high heat.

       2. Let the water come to a boil. Put the lid on the pan when the water is boiling. Move the pan onto a cold burner. Set the timer for 15 minutes for Large-sized eggs (or for 12 minutes for Medium-sized eggs or for 18 minutes for Extra Large-sized eggs).

       3. Put the pan in the sink when the time is over. Run cold water into the pan until the eggs are cool. Put the eggs into the refrigerator if you're going to use them later or peel them if you're going to use them right away. Be sure to use all the cooked eggs up before a week is over.

       4. Gently tap a cooled egg on the countertop or table until it has cracks in it. Roll the egg between your hands until the cracks turn into small crackles all over the egg.

       5. Use your fingers to start peeling off the shell at the large end of the egg. If you need to, you can hold the egg under running cold water or dip it in a bowl of water to make peeling easier. Throw out the pieces of eggshell when the egg is all peeled. You can eat the egg or use it in a recipe when it's peeled.

  8. Add the eggs to water before boiling, then boil it. Once the water starts boiling, you can turn the heat off and leave the eggs in there for a few extra minutes, then strain and run cold water over the eggs to peel.

Don't even worry about the vinegar, that's usually for poached eggs.

  9. Here's a link to an answer I posted on this very same subject just a few days ago - how to make the perfect boiled egg:

  10. Whenever I boil eggs for egg salad I let the water boil first. Then I add the eggs and let them cook for no more than 10 minutes. I havn't ever heard of the vinegar trick so I can't be of any help there, sorry. Just let them boil for about 10 minutes and add all your ingredients like mayo, mustard, salt, pepper, etc. and enjoy your late/early snack :-)

  11. Step1

Place the raw egg in a saucepan.

    Step2

Run cold water into the saucepan until the water is 1 inch above the egg.

    Step3

Place the saucepan on a stove and cook over medium heat until the water begins to boil.

    Step4

    Reduce the heat to low.

    Step5

Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes for soft-boiled eggs or 10 to 15 minutes for hard-boiled eggs.

    Step6

Remove the egg with a spoon or ladle and let it cool slowly, or run cold water over it to cool it more quickly.

Use hard-boiled eggs to make deviled eggs or egg salad sandwiches.

Don't over cook your eggs, it can cause a green ring to appear around the egg yolk because of the iron and sulfur in the egg. This will not affect the taste of the egg, but overcooking will hurt the protein quality.

  12. The proper way to boil eggs and not end up with dark yolks.

Place the eggs in the bottom of a saucepan, cover with cool not cold water, an inch above the top of the eggs.

Place the pan on the stove and turn the element on high.

When the water has reached a steady rolling boil, turn off the element and move the saucepan to a cold element on the stove.

Let the eggs sit in the hot water for 20 minutes.

Rinse under cold water and then peel them.

The shells will come off easily and the yolks will be golden not gray colored.     Your very welcome.

  13. i put the eggs in the water first.... But run hot or warm water in the pot before you boil... it wont take as long... I usually boil between 12 to 15 mins on high...

  14. !st: add eggs then boil

2nd: leave eggs to boil until the shell starts to crack.

3rd: i suggest you do not add vinegar...idk who told you that but don't.

4th: enjoy the egg salad sandwich!
