Bonding with Baby while Deployed?

Question

So my husband is deployed in iraq for 15 months and we found out I was pregnant two weeks before he left so he's been gone through my pregnancy and will be gone for the whole thing. He will be home for the birth but will of course go back again so this means our baby won't see him until she is 6 months. Anywho my question is since i know there are plenty of other military wives out there with the same problem,

what are some various ways to help my husband bond with our baby while he is away?

I know theres the tape recordings of his voice and the whole t-shirt with his scent but is there anything else I can do?

i know i keep tons of pictures around, and always talk to your baby/child about their daddy, and as far as he goes, send him tons of pictures as well, always point of the pictures of the baby's father and tell her/him about their father!  Thats what i did/do!  

Military life can be had espically when your husbands are away and we have small children or baby's , but we get through it somehow.. I did!

if you two have the internet you can webcam so he can still see your baby grow and he/she can see who daddy is so when he does come back it wont be so weird for either of them.

i heard they got live web-cam feeds going over there. i cant confirm this but you should look into it. that way u guys can talk to each other via video. technology is great isnt it? and congradulations with the baby! :D

Deployments stink, don't they? I'm really sorry about your situation but congrats on the pregnancy nonetheless. I've heard of showing your baby pictures of the deployed parent and make sure to show her updated ones. That way, when your husband does return, she'll know his face. I do know when my husband was deployed he was able to use a webcam some times so see about that.

Talking/hearing his voice on the phone is an absolute must. Also, he should say her name alot while on the phone so she gets used to hearing it from him.

Webcam, videos, pictures, and e-mail are about all you can do.

maybe get some type

of computer device that you

can connect to hime

and he can talk to the baby

and you of course

kind of like a phone

but with pictures too.

or have him send you guys like

dvds and stuff.

Uhm..Don't know. we want a baby NOW..but we decided it would be best to get pregnant on R&R so h**l be home for the birth and however long (hopefully a year or more) so spend with his baby :)
