ive always just used the fabric ones but this year i thought maybe i would change it up a bit, use paper bag ones or maybe wrapping paper or something a little more custom....

but since the whole point is to protect the book, i thought i would get a few opinions..do they last? how long?

and if u have used both which do u recommend?

thanks(:

  1. fabric is better for the environment because you reuse them

but both paper and fabric are useless to protecting your book from water if the cover parts get wet. but both protect well against scratches. but paper rips off really quick.

  2. fabric but my friend covered it with paper bags and sge put some cool desighns and 4 the subjcts like science she cut out a globe  4rm a magazine and she put on there and a bunch of stuff it looked awsome the she bought thus plastic thing over it to protect iit

  3. Paper always breaks after one week, and doesn't protect the book much. Fabric fits on all sizes, and is washable. They last a lot longer and come in cool designs. Trust me stick with fabric. Hope i helped

  4. I always used to cut up brown paper bags from the supermarket and they always worked fine.  It's good to get the A&P to come out on the front cover.

  5. fabric

    its reusable

  6. School book covers do come in plastic however when I was in high school I made them of a laminated paper. Paper would be ok but I don't think they would durable enough for the school year. Hope this helps you out.

  7. Fabric is reusable and plus if u use paper its get all ripped up and everything

  8. Either paper or fabric works to protect the book. The paper ones can be decorated with markers or even crayons. If one tears, you can discard the damaged one and replace it for the price of a recycled brown paper bag and a bit of creativity.

I have been a cataloger/head of technical processing in several libraries over nearly 40 years. It was my job (or that of my department) to repair the damaged books. Whenever a book has a dust jacket, it's own cover is better protected than a book without a jacket. It was also more attractive and would see more check-outs than a plain book. Of course, that's not an issue with a textbook, but it's still a valid use of a cover.

So -- be creative. Make your own covers however you wish. Fabric will protect. So will paper. Express yourself! ... And don't forget to OPEN the books and read the assignments. :)

  9. fabric you can put decorations on them and cool patches

  10. Stick with Fabric, I know, it's fun to have paper ones, but they rip so much, you just end up having to tape them back over and over again... I know, because I LOVED this one book cover i made, i drew all over it and stuff, and it's gone, it was all ripped and stuff. =/ But paper is more fun... so idk lol

  11. Keep it simple, just use something inexpensive and colorful such as a bright wallpaper, and you will be able to pick these up at your local store and most of them have a sale on at the moment.

    Best wishes

  12. well actually the fabric ones tear up the corners of the book. The paper ones do rip easily if you're not careful, but they cost less and it's easier to write on them.

  13. fabric last much longer but paper look better and you can write all over them. for a custom look use bags from your favorite places- mine are covered in abercrombie bags (they are thicker than grocery bags and there's hot guys on them!)
