Bookshelf Spkrs with Sub-woofer?

Question

I'm using my NAD amp with only 20 watts per channel with a Yamaha subwoofer in a very live room. I'm happy with the bass response but the highs are very shrill. What I need is a pair of very efficient bookshelf speakers no taller than 14 1/2 inches with a very mellow highend soft dome tweeter perhaps? I'd be willing to spend as much as $700 or so for the pair. Any model suggestions? Where to get the best price? Thanks
