Boston College’s Rettig promising for Saturday
Boston College starting quarterback Chase Rettig is said to be promising for Saturday’s game against the North Carolina Wolfpack.
Rettig was forced out of last Saturday’s loss to Nortre Dame after he was injured on a sack in the first quarter. The youngster was wearing a protective boot for the early part of the week. However, it was removed on Wednesday and the freshman is said to
have some of his mobility back and should be ready to go come Saturday.
The game against Notre Dame was Rettig’s first ever collegiate start. The youngster took over for the quarterback tandem of Mike Marscovetra and Dave Shinskie. All season the Eagles have been battling quarterback issues and their offence has ground to a
halt. Boston College currently sits 63rd in the nation in passing yards and 108th in the country in rushing yards. The squad was hoping to spark the offence when they introduced Rettig as the starter against the Fighting Irish. Unfortunately,
after Rettig went down the Eagles were back to their old ways, as Marscovetra threw two interceptions and the team was only able to tally 13 points.
Boston College will be glad to get Rettig back against North Carolina State this weekend. The Wolfpack are coming off their first loss of the season to Virginia Tech last week and are a very dynamic offensive side.
Although Rettig is still relatively untested, the Eagles will be looking to get some kind of consistency in their offence. Moreover, the club is entering the conference-play portion of their season with games against the Wolfpack, the Florida State Seminoles,
the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and the Duke Blue Devils. If Boston College hopes to stay out of the basement in the ACC they are going to develop a stronger offensive game plan.
