Boxing and the economy?

With hopkins vs pavlik, Manny Pac vs delahoya, mayweather vs oscar/hatton. and jones vs trinidad, is it me or does it seem as if promoters are trying to put together big name fights for PPV buys or trying to compete with MMA for an audience. Because out of all the fights that I have mentioned these were/are not mandatory or a champion vs a number one contender. like the only reward is money. Manny should not be facing oscar, kelly not with hopkins and what did the RJJ fight do with tito?
