  1. The higher notes require a tighter emboucher, and that makes it hurt.

You should be able to overcome this with practice, but take it easy at first.  You don't want to cut your lips.  Make sure that you do proper warmup exercises.

  2. I got my top braces on last November and bottom ones on last January and I also found it hard to play for a while. Here's some things I'd suggest doing to help:

    1. Make sure you get brace wax from your orthodontist. It helps A LOT. I use it every time I play.

    2. Like Gary said, practice makes perfect. After a while with your bottom braces, your lips will grow use playing with them just like I'm sure they did with your top ones. It just takes time.

    3. You said your having problems getting some higher notes. It's summer man. Take a break. If you don't have to play a whole lot don't. Give you lips and teeth some time to adjust.
