  1. If you want to breastfeed, why do you need a pump...?

  2. The type of breast pump you need will depend on how much you will use it.  If you're going to be a SAHM, you might just want a single, manual one for occasional pumping.  If you are working, then a double-electric would be ideal.  (I have the Medela Pump in Style Advanced, which is fantastic, although the new hands-free Freestyle looks neat.)  If you need to increase supply or will be exclusively pumping for a baby who is in the hospital for extended periods of time, then rent a hospital-grade one.

  3. normal breastfeeding doesnt involve pumps. you wont need one unless you are returning to work. I have an evenflo one, and its alright. sure, breastfeeding is easy, once you get the hang of it, it does take a few weeks so make sure you have a supportive husband!

kellymom.com is a great site and helped me alot

  4. I assume you're planning to bottle-feed with breast milk? Or feed baby straight on the breast?

If the former, rent an electric pump for a while - you'll give yourself repetitive strain injury trying to pump that much by hand!

If you're going to mainly feed at the breast, and want to express occasionally to have a backup supply, then go for a hand pump - Tommee Tippee, Avent and Pigeon all make reasonably priced pumps.

    Best of luck with it!

    You could also try Ebay!!

There are so many on the market these days it's really hard to chose! I guess it is up to the mum her self, as you need to be comfortable using a pump!!

    Good Luck
