Question:

Breastmilk & Formula can I do both

I have been exclusively breastfeeding my baby for the past 8 months. Which is great except for when I have to pump, which is everyday twice a day. I hate to pump, I will leave work early just so I can go home and nurse to avoid pumping. I work full time so my baby stays with a sitter during the day. Is is possible to give baby formula during the day and nurse on the weekends and at night?

  1. yes you can do both. i did that when i had a baby.

  2. Yep, it is perfectly fine. Alyssa eats one can of formula a month. We nurse in the morning and night, and during the day if I need to go out she just has a bottle.

Don't feel guilty for giving formula. It is perfectly fine. Your supply will go down so you may not be able to do the mid-day nursings on the weekend. Morning and night will keep the bond. No worries!

  3. Yes my cousin had to do this because she was a full time mail lady and had no where to pump.

  4. It is possible, but it is recommended that you choose one or the other.  Babies benefit more from breast milk, but formula has a similar make-up.

  5. yea you can  baby is 8 months ,baby has had a great start ,your milk will probably reduce to the feeds you will be giving , both is good no harm will be caused

  6. Yes.  Your baby is old enough that the transition should go well.  Just be aware that if you stop pumping, your milk supply may start to dry up, so breast feed as much as you can.

  7. yes it's very possible...I feel as long as you offer your baby your breast milk, thats the best thing you can do for your child!!!!
