Breeding turtle help!!!?

Hi, I have 2 red eared sliders and i'm tryin to breed them but it just isnt working. I think the age diferance is quite off. We just got off our camping trip and my turtle that is closest to age just passed away. I am giving up on them and I am asking experienced breeders if they can PLEASE tell me the best turtles to breed!!! PLEASE It has been my dream to breed turtles.

  1. I really don't think it's easy at all to breed turtles in captivity.. Unless they have their habitat just like it naturally would be in the wild.

You SHOULDNT breed RES turtles because they can lay MANAY babies also ALOT of them wont survive and unless you have homes for ALL the babies to go to then you shouldnt Also you cant let captive born animals into the wild espesially babies because they can ALL die perhaps. Also RES turtles are overpopulated in some parts of the world so i suggest not even to try esspesially if there age is off You should never force a animal to do something it doesnt want to do like breeding!

  4. RESs are over-bred. If you are capable of keeping them on good condition, you might want to try breeding some of the less common turtles to take the pressure off the wild populations.
