  1. No personal knowledge, but a good place to start would be to check with licensing. They should be willing to tell you if the daycare has any problems and perhaps even share the licensing report with you. http://www.bpl.bc.ca/gab/documents/dayca...

You might go to www.todaysparent.com and check out the parenting forums. I know there are ladies there who live in the Burnaby area and they might be able to give you personal knowledge.

Your best bet is to visit the area and the centre and form your own opinions. Usually your heart will tell you if it's a good centre or not.

  2. It seems to be new.  Found this online while searching for you:

"Bright Star Montessori school located in South Burnaby is looking for a qualified ECE teacher and assistant of the teacher for newly opened daycare from September."

A new place can have advantages and disadvantages.  No matter what, it's best to visit the school and see how friendly everyone is.  You can get a good sense from that.

You're asking about daycare.  I assume that's the age you're interested in and not the older programs, if they have those.  If they do, and the older children have been there a while, go and observe how they treat the older children.  This will tell you how well the director does at getting and maintaining good teachers.  I have not found anything online except ads and I have been looking for about 1/2 hour.  They're not in AMS's directory and I don't know where AMI's online directory is for non-American schools.

A school doesn't have to belong to those organizations to be a good Montessori School.  But if they don't, it's **sometimes** a red flag.  But to register your school with them is also a big cost to many schools, so many good schools simply do not do it.

You may also want to try message boards of parents in Burnaby.  It may take a little searching, but I'm sure you can find something like that.

    Good luck!

    Matt
