Brit com inspired question

ok so i love me some brit coms, i remember in on that they said 1. it is treason to destroy anythign with the queens image on it. (that one i buy) and 2. since postage stamps have the queen on them or are royaly regulated somethign along those lines. that they can be used as currency in the UK. so what say you?

1. It's illegal to deface the queen's image on a coin or medal, but it's doesn't rise to the level of treason.

2.  Not true. Oftentimes people will use unused stamps in the same way as currency (more popular in the 50's-80's. Not sure about today), but stamps are not legally the same as currency.
