Question:

British Universities?

What are some good British Universities I should consider if I want to do a 1 year diploma in journalism. I'm studying a 3 year Bsc elsewhere, but thought it would be rad to do journalism in England.

Would I be considered an international student (and hence pay international fees) if I was on an Irish passport? Or would I just pay normal fees?

  1. Cardiff is well known to have a good school for Journalism and media studies in general.

City University of London also has some strong Journalism based courses

The copywriter at my work studied Journalism at Lincoln and she's pretty d**n good on the writing front

I'm not sure if you would be considered an EU national with an Irish passport - http://www.ucas.com/students/nonukstuden...

  2. Fees do not depend on your nationality or what passport you hold.

You must meet certain residency criteria to be eligible to pay home fees (namely having lived in the UK or EU or European Economic Area for three years preceding your course start).

If you have lived outside of the EU for this time you pay international fees. If you were only outside of the EU for part of this time, it may count as a temporary absence in some circumstances and you may be treated as if you have been resident for the whole period.

You could do a search on UCAS. http://www.ucas.ac.uk
