Question:

Broadband internet connection??

e.g we have broad connection of 2 mbps (MEGA BYTES PER SECOND) . then its downloading speed is not equal to 2 MBps and it is near about 700kb ps to near about 1.2 mbps....

why there is so much difference............

and also why downloading speed is not constant always and it is varying.....

pls. help me................

only technical (appropriate) suggesstions pls....

  1. it is normal.

    If you do not believe, try the following if you have a home network.

    Two PCs in your home network (100M bit per second ) transfer one large file.

    The actual speed will be *MUCH* less than 100Mbps (12.5M bytes per second).


  2. The broadband speed is the theoretical maximum speed between your PC and your provider. Download speeds will depend on a several other factors, like the host server's connection speed and the number of intermediate providers.

    If you read the small print of your contract, I suppose it will give a lot of reasons why you don't get 2MBPS ;-)

    For example, the further the distance from the exchange to your house, the lower the speed will get (which is what my ISP told me when signing up)
