  1. There are options like this which don't require a landline

    http://threestore.three.co.uk/broadband/

    http://online.vodafone.co.uk/dispatch/Po...

  2. i got a USB modem, very handy o2 sell em. just plug it into your laptop/desktop and off ya go...

  3. You can either get cable or Mobile broadband without a landline

  4. yeah its a pain when you know its temp. your gonna live there...you just have to determine what its worth to you...i haven't had cable tv since i divorced cuz i am too cheap to pay for it...but tv is very boring...i had to pick between internet or cable...so i pick internet...i would probably just get broadband thru cable company.....

  5. When you apply for a new line for BT Together, LUS or BT Basic you may choose to spread the cost of your connection. With this option, for BT Together and LUS you will make a payment upfront of £27.49, which includes a facility fee of £12.46, followed by four further payments of £27.49 which will be added to your first four quarterly (three-monthly) bills.

The half price offer started on the 9th November and as has been said, you need to sign up to BT Option 1/2 or 3 for 18 months.

If you do not wish to have a landline with BT then your only option is a mobile internet connection with 3 or T-Mobile etc, or sign up with a satellite ISP.

  6. You can go for mobile broadband as others have suggested but it is generally more expensive.

The alternative is to install the new line and have the service transferred when you leave the flat in 8 months. you are also much likely to get lower monthly charges (maybe £8.99 per month). So overall, not much difference in the total costs but with a superior service with an iSP.

  7. You can get a mobile USB conection but without that, ther's not much you could do because I was in the same situation and though I only need the flat for 9months, Virgin Media said I still need a landline before they could install a broadband.

I doubt there's much way forward without a BT line and the mobile usb is not the best either.

  8. You didn't say where you were, but if you are in the U.S. and in an area that has cable Internet that is the way to go. They don't make you sign a year contract.

  9. You can have a line installed by the BT engineers for only £99 by the Utility Warehouse. A saving of £25. After that you can go with the same guys for line rental at £9.99 a month and therefore broadbband, check them out at www.telecomplus.org.uk/a10928

  10. I've got the 3 store one.  It' only £15 a month with no intitial charges.  You just plug and and your away it's brilliant.
