Ok. I'm hungry! I really want to make something really yummy and quick. I have hardly anything in the fridge or pantry right now...yes I know I need to go grocery shopping...but I do have some rice, cheese, and frozen broccoli. Would It work if I boiled the rice and broccoli together, drained it, then put in some cheese to make broccoli cheese rice like you get in the packets at the grocery store?

Thanks muches!!

  1. Hey again...

Here's How I make my Broccoli Cheese Rice:

    Things Needed:

    1.Green Giant's Broccoli & Three Cheese (comes in bag;frozen)

    2.Any brand of instant rice

3.Cheez Whiz (comes in a jar)

    4.A pot,water,and stove

5.Fork, spoon or anything else to stir it with

    Steps:

1.Set out the broccoli on your counter so that it can defrost

2.Boil a pot of water while you are thawing out the broccoli

3.Once water is boiled, put it desired amount of rice and leave for 5 minutes, or until done

4.drain the rice, but try to leave just a little water so it doesn't get sticky

5.put in as much broccoli as desired and you will see that in the bag, the cheese is in little "clumps". Put in as many of the "clumps" as you want.(the more the cheessier)

6.Get your Cheez Whiz and spoon out a little, maybe about 2-3 spoonfuls.

7.Stir it all together until broccoli is soft;not mushy; and cheese is melted.

    8.Serve and enjoy!!

**Also, while cooking the rice, for more flavor, add margerine and salt. Once Meal is done I always add more salt to it and then stir it all around!

  2. Don't put the broccoli in yet....or it will get mushy.   When the rice is done, stir in the cheese & broccoli (defrosted)...it will only take a few minutes for the cheese to melt and the broccoli to get hot.

If you have a chicken breast left, bake it up and you have a full meal.

  3. Lynn's Broccoli Rice Casserole

    ½ cup chopped onion

½ cup chopped celery (*I will often leave out if I have none)

    4 T. margarine

    2 cups cooked rice

1 (10½ oz) can cream of mushroom soup

2 (10-oz) pkg. frozen chopped broccoli, barely cooked and drained

1 (8 oz) jar Cheese Whiz (*I will often use a chub of Kraft Garlic Cheese or Tostitoes Nacho Cheese, whatever I have around)

1 4-oz) can water chestnuts, diced

Saute’ onions and celery in margarine. Mix all ingredients. Put into a greased 2-qt. baking dish. Bake at 350ºF for 25 minutes or until bubbly. Serves 8. Enjoy!!
