Question:

Broken digital camera?

I just purchased an old somewhat broken Olympus camedia E-10. Here is what the description said about it's functioning/malfunctioning.

"I was unable to get either the LCD screen or electronic viewfinder to function properly, getting only a vague difference in lighting to show up on the screen. I attempted to take pictures and save them to a memory card (not included) but got only ‘black’. I was able to view photos on a memory card taken with a different camera, and the menu screen also came up and functioned normally. I believe this camera would require a significant repair prior to any use."

i was thinking of taking it to a camera shop in st. louis but they said that the parts for this camera are no longer available. does anyone have any ideas about

1. what is wrong with it

2. where i could take it to be fixed

3. how much it will cost

4. could i fix it myself?

i am pretty mechanically inclined so i might fix it myself.

any help y'all could offer is appreciated!!! thanks!!

  1. I'm not an expert on this but did you check the battery?

Also, my daughter had an Olyp. and the shutter was worn out - they said it wasn't worth the cost.

Why don't you take it to a good camera repair and ask if they could give you an estimate on price to repair it?

    Good luck!

  2. There is no way in the world that you are going to repair it yourself. With no parts available, you have no choice but to buy a new camera. If the parts were available, your looking at a 100.00 dollar (probably more) repair bill.
