There is an infestation of Brown Recluse in and around my home I have mix of the essential oils; eucalyptus, citronella, lemon oil, and Wintergreen, all of this mixed into a spray bottle with water...Will this work and does anyone know of any easier and readily accessible solutions to this problem

I have cats so I am looking for natural repellents.. Thanks

  1. a .22 air rifle will do the trick, good fun too

  2. I'm normally opposed to extermination of things outside my house, but if I had a lot of brown recluse spiders, I might make an exception.

Their population will increase, if it hasn't already, until there's no more food to support their numbers.   That may represent an increase over what you already have out there, so even if you can find a repellent, it might end up being an ongoing battle, well unless you spray the entire inside and outside of your house and maybe a good part of the yard.

The good news is, you have to almost _try_ to get bitten by spiders, even the brown recluse.

  3. Here is a site which carries Brown Recluse Spider traps which are non-toxic to pets and people. I would consider this an emergency as my mom's cat ate a brown recluse and ended up dying after weeks of trying to help the kitty get better.
