Budgies Eyes?

I just got this totally cool new budgie and he/she is the yellowest thing ive ever seen, i was wondering what does it mean when they eyes are red, because my other blue budgie has dark brown/black eyes, is it normal?

  1. In most cases budgies with red eyes are albino. This is nothing to be alarmed about and is very common. If you are worried, you should see your local vet just in case.


  2. It sounds like an albino trait. I have seen them before. You might call the vet and ask him. I would think you should keep out of direct sunlight.

  3. It's not an albino, albino's are white. It's a lutino - yellow. White budgies with dark eyes are 'White Budgies', white budgies with red eyes are 'albino'. Yellow budgies with dark eyes are 'Yellow Budgies', yellow budgies with red eyes are 'Lutino'. To tell the s*x of your budgie look at it's cere, that's the small area at the top of it's beak where the nostrils are; blue for males, brown for females.
