Build an r/c car?

Question

Does anyone have instructions for building an r/c car from stuff that I would have at home. Perhaps by tweeking an old remote controll. I understand that it may be complicated, so please share your ideas!

I am not clear on what you want to tweak.  A remote for what?

If you have a transmitter, a receiver and servos, you can make whatever motor and steering mechanism you want, and use the servos to control the steering.

but it would be an incredibly difficult task to take household items and create a workable remove that has mechanical actuators.
