I am wanting to start up a limited company how do you go about starting one up and how much round about would it cost?

As far as "how much round about would it cost" that depends on what you want to do! Slightly more info and I could help a little more but can't give you any idea if you are so vague - sorry :)

I presume you are referring to a Limited Liability Corp...(LLC)?

In some jurisdictions- the paperwork is less than $300.  Registering with the state/county, bank account, tax ID# etc.

    Need to search of an business name is already being used.  Apply for a tax ID # (forms online) and go to the county to register the name.

Go to the Companies House website for all the information you need on registering a company.  If you're confident enough to do it yourself, you can do it all for well under £100.  We did that with one last year but we've set up other limited companies in the past.  It's not difficult.

You need a set of Memoranda and Articles of Association, which you can buy from a legal stationers and insert any bits that are relevant to your business, you complete forms for your directors - minimum of one - and your company secretary - who cannot be the same person as your only director.  The company secretary swears an affidavit at a local Commissioner of Oaths (it cost us £10 last year) and you submit all your paperwork to Companies House.  If there's no hurry to register the company I think the fee is about £20.  The Companies House site guides you through it all.
