do you burn calories while you sleep? or while doing everyday activities like watching TV and sitting in school or at work? If i'm on a 2,000 calorie diet i don't want to have to burn over 2,000 calories in the gym, so I'm hoping that I burn calories during the day as well.

  1. I read that you burn 60 an hour when you're awake but I'm unsure of how many when you're asleep. Sorry i didn't help much, honestly I was looking for the answer too.

  2. yes, although very few compared to the daytime

if you are on a 2000 cal diet you dont need to burn 2000 in the gym because your BMR & RMR determine how much your body burns just by functioning normally. this will depend on you age, body fat %, lean muscle mass, blood pressure, normal activity, genetics etc... for a healthy male in his early 20's who is of avg height/weight/activity & eating 2000cal/day will already burn @ 2000cal in 24 hrs,so, to lose weight (about 1lb/week) he'd only have to burn @ an add'l 500cal/day in the gym-

  3. You burn calories all of the time.

  4. During your sleep you burn about 300 kJ per hour, if you convert it into

calories you obtain (1 calorie = 4,18 joules). So you burn about  574 calories during your whole night.  (Which is 574.4 kcal, or "food" Calories, per night.)
