I am planning a trip to Germany and I am told it is better to book bus tours in Europe? I am looking for an English speaking tour of Paris/France departing from Germany May 2008. Any advice is appreciated.

  1. also every Reisebuero (travel agency) will offer bus tours to Paris. For instance from my hometown of Duesseldorf the bus tour to France is 5 hours and it cost around 25 Euro. (just the day tour)  There are lots of bus tours to all kind of European cities and they are all very affordable.

  2. you can take a tgv/ice (high speed train) from either frankfurt, saarbruecken, or stuttgart directly to paris. it is more comfortable and a lot faster than going by bus. also, in most cases, it is cheaper, too

  3. First of all, it would be important to know from where in Germany you want to start with your trip.

Also, it's usually better if you travel between big cities by train (For example, using the TVG running from Stuttgart to Paris), and then book a guided tour directly in the city.

EDIT: Coming from the North, your best bet would be Cologne, since that is one of the starting points for the TGV.  For travel dates, durations, prices and buying tickets online  check out

Please be aware that the TGV has to be booked in advance and seat reservations are mandatory for that train. Also, you have to be at the train at least 20 Minutes prior to departure time.

BTW, Berlin can be reached within a few hours by ICE from Hamburg, though from Berlin to Cologne it takes around 4 hours.

There are plenty of tours inside Paris that offer English guides:

to name just a small fraction.
