I recently purchased a bushnell 5x15 elite 3200 with a mil dot reticle. Does anybody know what power i need to set it on to use the mil dots to estimate ranges. The 15 power is in red, so could this be it? Thanks in advance.

  1. You have to take the size of the target height in meters then x1500 to get the meters in the range. Like this i have a 3x9x50mm scope if the target is 2.00 mils and the target is 32" it is 365.9 meters away (400 yards) hope this helps.

Oh and yes the 15 power must be the set power.

  2. G'day mate i don't know what you are meaning? are you talking about a built in range finder or hold over point's?.Correct me if im wrong guys. But i was told when you buy a scope with hold over point's it has to suit yr gun not one scope will work on any gun you put on it.Example when i brought a Burris scope it gave me the calibers that would suit  a specific scope.Correct me if I'm wrong I'm sure it told me that when i sight in my rifle i have to full power my scope to 16 (that's my max)at one 100 meters than the next mill dot down or hold over point is 200 meters and so on.But i don't have to keep it on 16 for it to work do i?,because i always turn mine down to about 12.Jo j i don't know much about yr rifle scope but does it have a built in range finder or are you talking about yr mil dot's?.I got a range finder and when it tells me it's 200 meter's i just aim to the next mill dot or hold over point with my rifle scope and i hit it.If you sight in at 50 meters then the next mill dot should be at 100 meters and so on but it shouldn't have to be a full power at the scope im sure of it it's very interesting to here how other shooter do it.
