Question:

Buttkicker Amplifier to Power AUDIO Subwoofers?

Is this possible to do? I have an Audiobahn AW1200V 700 WATT RMS subwoofer and I wanted to know if it is possible to power it with a Buttkicker BKA1000-4A Amplifier....I dont want to actually use it for "silent" bass, but as a cheaper alternative to "audible" bass.

Thanks for your help guys!

  1. That will probably not be a satisfactory solution due to high distortion in the Buttkicker amp. Distortion that won't bother a Buttkicker can be very audible. There is a reason that audio amps cost more than Buttkicker amps. An audio amp should have no more than 0.09% THD. I have seen cheap amps rated as high as 10% THD! And some have no THD rating at all which means in that case the specs are useless.

BTW I have heard of many people using audio amps for Buttkickers, but never a Buttkicker amp for audio for the above reasons.
