  1. There is no way to bring a large transport airplane to you without cutting it into fairly small pieces for shipment by rail and/or truck.  Have you ever been close to a 747?  They are quite large.  Unless you live on a farm, your back yard is not large enough.

Go out and measure the yard.  Remember that a Boeing 747 is 231 feet long, 196 feet wide, and 64 feet high.  Are you sure you have room for one in the back yard?

Finally, a written-off 747-300 is still worth $200,000 or so, and there would be very few cities or counties where the zoning authorities would let you set one up, much less live in it.

Sorry.  It's a nice dream, but not likely to happen.

  2. no idea

  3. You might turn to buy something smaller. And definetly will need to dismantle at least the wings.

I can tell you that a written off MD80 is around 20k to 50k US dollars.

A tri Star or 747 will go MUCH higher.

    Cheers

  4. Hope you don't live next door.

  5. Aviophage is right. Besides the size problem, a timed out 747 or similar aircraft is worth more to a dismantler in scrap parts alone than the average house is. You could I suppose buy a stripped out hull with nothing inside but why?

There was a guy as I recall a while back who made a house out of an old 727 and put it on a hill somewhere. You might be able to find some info online about that. But the transportation costs alone of moving the hull would be outrageous.

    Just for fun look at:
