Question:

Buying Euros at Post Office

I'm going to the post office tomorrow to get my Euros for holiday. I need to buy about £1,500 - £2,000 worth for me and a couple of friends. Does anyone know if you can get that much without pre-ordering and if there's a limit on how much you can buy. Thanks.

  1. Why do you need to carry so much cash?  Why not just use your normal ATM card to withdraw Euros while you are away?

Mind you I bank with Nationwide and they don't levy charges for withdrawing cash from a foreign bank machine.

I would never dream of carrying even a third of that amount of cash with me.

  2. I would order online from Travelex and then collect at the airport. Much better exchange rate. But to answer your question, I dont think you have to pre order as long as they have enough in stock but I would chack with the post office first

  3. I would phone them first to forewarn them so they can make sure they have enough as they might have someone else come in before you do and do the same.

Have a look on Yell.com and do a search for post offices in your area-should bring up their phone number.

  4. I think you can because my mom got £2500 in euros
