  1. Loft on clubs is what makes your ball travel at a higher or lower trajectory. So with the driver an 8 degree driver would travel at a lower trajectory than a 10.5 degree and possibly travel further because of the lower, flater flightpath. Players base their drivers loft off of their comfort level,so you will have to try a few out before you decide. I've found 10-10.5 drivers are much easier to hit because of the reduced side spin on the ball without sacrificing distance on my drives.

Loft of irons as well drivers/woods can be sized by professionals at a local course or store.

    Hope it helps some

  2. How do you hit the ball with " Hand-me-downs "? Find a golf course near you( public) and talk with the pro. See what he advises? What can your golf coach suggest? Follow up with professionals at major country clubs in your area. They may have perfectly good sets of trade-in clubs which you can get for cheap. Many have demonstrator sets from last year which are as good as new. Until you are fully developed I would suggest you stick with the less expensive alternative. When you approach adulthood, then you can invest the money to get a personally fitted set of woods and irons.

  3. If you don't know what loft is you are not a two handicap. Why do kids lie to make themselves look better. I mean, every golfer under 20 says they are at least 6 strokes better than they are, if not ten.

Loft is the angle from 90 degrees to the face of your driver. If you are 14 i wouldn't buy clubs until you are at least 18, if not twenty. If you grow three inches in the next 5 years, the clubs you are about to purchase will be worthless. Don't waste your parents money. Wait until you get a job and can pay for it on your own. Not with an allowance from your daddy.  Then you will understand the relevance of new clubs.

  4. When I am in doubt I go to this site run by golfsmith:

It has so much helpful advice!

I sell pre-owned clubs out of my home garage, so obviously I think it makes a ton of since to buy used clubs over new clubs.  You can also go to any golf shop to get a set of clubs fitted for your personal swing style, height, wrist to floor measurement, stance, etc.

  5. Okay. Look around the sport shops. Then do some online things. From there u can see wat u want.

  6. There are two ways the ball gets in the air. One is the loft on the club. The other is the backspin which causes aerodynamic lift. A person who hits the ball very fast can use a lower loft on their driver because they will have more backspin. If you create too much lift though the ball goes too high so there is a limit. You are a good golfer (based on your handicap). Talk to your coach, go to a local shop and hit some different drivers with different lofts. If you take a lot of time at your local shop you should buy your clubs there. I got a custome driver at a local golf shop, but I got my irons online.

  7. if your a 2 handicap you should go down to a local golf shop or pro and get fitted for a set. and there is no way your a 2 and do not know what those mean.

  8. I don't know where you live but many golf stores these days offer custom fitted golf clubs depending on the brand I think. I know Ping does for sure cause that is what I have but you buy what you want. I would not buy online cause you want the clubs to be right for you. Loft is the angle of the club face. The higher the number the higher your ball will go. Degree is the same. It is if you want to hit the ball high or more of a line drive. Most drivers will range from 8 to 10.5 degree.
