I was wathcing the movie "21" and yes i know card counting is almost impossible these days you don't have to remind me buy i noticed that when the big rollers moved in the small betters already new when the table was hot even when the cards were not dealt. Where they going by the previous hand?

Yes they used the information provided fromt he cards dealt in previous hands to detect weather or not hands i the furture are worth playing.

The real MIT team also used shuffle tracking techniques that manipulate the placement of the cut card to strategically position card whitnessed in the previous shoe to partof the fresh shoe before it is even dealt, in this manor they could detect an advantage immediately after the shuffle, before the first hand was even dealt, though this was not mentioned or talked about in the movie.
