I have an Olympus E-410 DSLR camera which can use both XD and CF memory cards.

Which is faster to read and write?

Any pos (+) or neg (-) of each?

Thanks

  1. Get both because with XD you will be able to use Olympus master program for creating panoramic pictures.Get CF because they are faster than XD cards. If you are dealing with speed and if you want to check your taken shots on the camera's screen faster, you will have to get CF card too. This camera can carry both and you can transfer the pictures between. So get 2 gb XD-m+(faster one)and 4 gb CF.(Speed is up to you.Whichever you can afford).Good luck.

  2. The CF cards are the most used and accessible throughout the world.  The cost per GB is much lower when you buy CF cards and finally, xD cards are only used by Olympus and some of the Fujifilm cameras.

CF cards are the the ones that the pros use.

  3. With CF you'll keep your options open. If you later on buy a Canon DSLR or a Nikon then you can use the card there as well.  Another pro of CF over XD is that you can get pretty huge CF cards like 8 or 16GBs if you want to. Don't skimp on CF and get the cheapest one though. I recommend something 80X or higher. A dependable brand on the cheap side is PQI or ADATA. try http://shop3.frys.com/search?cat=-49036&...
