What are the problems of a normal cable connecting to 26" HD TV, will the picture be bad? Is it best to get a digital box instead?

  1. I am a little skeptical of your question.

There will be no problems with using normal cables if you are not currently receiving HD service. The picture will remain unaffected.

You can get a digital box if you would like to receive HD channels but your TV must be a HDTV.

You can also get digital cable boxes for non HDTV's too.
