Question:

Cable to connect Freeview TVs?

I current have a big reel of Sky Digital cable it's something like CT100 HI grade. Can I use the same cable to connect my outdoor ariel via a booster to TV sets around the house or should I get a reel of coaxial.

The reason I ask it that I tried connecting another TV from the RF2 outlet of the Sky box to the ariel socket on an analogue TV and the signal was terrible (the cable wasn't near electric cables and was about 5m long); which is why I'm now going to the direct from ariel approach.

Any advice would be good.

Thanks.

  1. CT100 is good for all satellite and out performs most of that brown TV UHF cable.

Other reasons why the signal is terrible:

Do you have another gadget, a VCR or Sky box putting out UHF? If they output on the same frequency then the signal will be messed up.

Excessive signal strength. If the Sky box amplifies too much you may need an attenuator.

Bad termination. If the cable has not been terminated properly you can get a poor signal.

Kinked cable. If you have a tight bend this can cause trouble.

    Bad aerial or location.

    Moisture in the cables.
