Get what you want. Don't let others make up your mind. After all, you'll be driving it. Not them. Try them both out on test drives. See what feels better to you as far as safety, ergonomics, sitting position, etc. are concerned.

Next, go to jdpower.com and find out how many recalls there have been on both cars. Find out about intitial quality and reliability after 3 years.

If it were my choice, I'd wait until the 2009 SRX comes out in a few months. That looks like it will blow the competition away in its dust. Google it and see what you think. If you can wait a few months, try it out and the 09 X5. Find out what works better for you.

One last bit of info you cannot get since you're not a dealer ... lease retention says a lot about a car. If people love them, they'll lease it again. If they don't they'll lease something else. I don't sell either one but being a dealer, I do have that info and I can tell you that the 3 and 5 series sedans have very good retention. The X3 and X5 do not.

Seems that a lot of people want one. But then they regret it enough to where they'll go to another brand or to the sedans instead. The SRX has a higher lease retention. More people are satisfied with it than the X5. So take a look at the '09 SRX. Compare it to the 09 X5. It may be worth the wait.

Please go with the X5.... its actually a real car compared to that American c**p. The SRX is built off the Saturn Vue frame, and is a piece of sh*t.
