Camera cable help?

Question

kk so i have a Sony handycam DCR-HC36, and with the camera came a cable to hook up the camera to the TV and a charger. i want to edit my videos with Window's Movie Maker. Do you know where i can buy a cable? i also have a Sony mini DV Digital Handycam DCR-TRV27, both DO NOT take DVDs, they take tapes. any idea where to get a cable for either one of them? preferably the DCR-HC36, but if you only know the other one that'd work too, or both........kk thanks.

Hello, in order for you to edit your videos in Movie Maker you must buy a Firewire cable for your camcorder, you can not use a USB cable for this. I would also like to mention that you must have a firewire enabled computer with firewire ports (IEEE 1394 firewire interface), if you do not have a firewire port you can check out the link below for the details on where to get one along with the details of where to purchase a firewire cable. In your case you are probably going to need a 4 to 6 pin firewire cable which you can find here:

DCR-HC36 & DCR-TRV27 are both miniDV vcams & have identical ilink/ firewire400 4 pin ports.

a miniDV vcam must be iLink / FIREWIRE400**-connected to pc to upload video thru video capture or video editing* (like wmm) software while vcam is ON PLAYBACK.  Note: DV or Firewire port of vcam is 4pin. Before cable purchase** (Vcam/4pin=>firewireCABLE=>PC (4/ 6pin?), check pc for DV or firewire port, whether 4 or 6 pin. If none, install firewire card: pci for pc or pcmcia for laptop.
